Just like to update my feeling about Coffee Dominion.
Not sure about what happened to my wrong roasting date experience.
But I had a great experience to bring my coffee machine to Coffee Dominion.
Long story short.
I got a Giotto not bought from them, but I was really struggling to make a acceptable espresso from it.
The owner (Jonathan) not only took his busy hours to go through every detail I have in the machine, but also only ask a very minor money for diagnostic the bitter flavour in my cup.

During the diagnostic, had a good chat with Jonathan, I understand Jon he had his dilemma between his own preference and satisfying the customer.
For example I just show my curiosity about the dark roast (too dark) of some sweet single origin (ie Ethiopian Harrar).
He said he felt the same way but Townsville customer complain the coffee is not bitter enough (as coffee?).

As a businessman and coffee connoisseur/enthusiast, Jon try to slowly educate Townsville customer about the pleasure of good coffee (maybe not a right word, but I can not find a better one).
Now I finally understand I was mistaken Coffee Dominion before as my narrow mind from very limited experience.
I will be the local fan of coffee Dominion when Jon is the owner!!

Hats off to Coffee Dominion for the amazing job they do and for the hard work they have put in!

Now AngryPeanut, I have something to tell you...there is an amazing
NEW COFFEE ROASTER IN TOWNSVILLE
"THE NEXT WAVE OF AWESOME FRESH"
I'd love to send you a sample from my own personal purchase just so you can taste how good this stuff is.
They promote Premium Beans with a Premium Roaster using a Premium Process!
I DO LOVE THIS COFFEE! And the name says how I feel.
If you like Venezia Primo, you are going to looove FARM FRESH!
I am a big fan of Dominion, but now I'm hooked on this stuff.
OH, and if you like Chai, try Namaste Chai. Organic, dairy free, gluten free, 99% caffeine free, and no artificial's...and, CHEAPEST in AUSTRALIA. Unless you are related to the guy. OBVIOUSLY! Never new I was a fan of chai and yet now I can't stop drinking it either.
Even travelling the globe did not allow me to enjoy such wonderful quality. And nothing beats making it yourself...RIGHT!?

Great news Colin, they have a new sealing/date machine.
There should be no more date problems, unless of course something as silly as human error occurs. As the employees there are human i suppose this will happen at some stage.
The date on the packet is the packaging date.
As the coffee is roasted daily, Monday to Friday, it is the freshest coffee you can get in Townsville other than roasting your own of course.
If you come in during the week, 9am - 2.30pm i am sure the lady who roasts the coffee can help you out with the freshness of the coffee.

I start to buy the bean (Venezia Primo) from them all the time, since I have my first machine EM6910.
The staff there was very helpful to help me to choose the accessories and cleaning detergent.
The bean used to be kept only two weeks old, after that they will be moved to quick sale place and cheaper price.

However, I found the roast date and label start to become a bit dodgy.
Some label missed, let me don't know which one is more fresh.
Ask them but the answer is all of them are fresh, don't worry (then where is the date label).

Then after couple weeks, I got a pack with future date label (I bought the pack at 15 March, the label is 20 March).
Next time I ask them about this, they kind of think I am stupid to ask the date.

Just start to feel the date label is not reliable anymore.
Think about roast my bean now because there is no other bean roaster in Townsville.

Well scooter girl I am not sure if the shots being poured are any good as I just use their beans. We were in there today and the place was packed so they must be doing something ok. Sometimes standards do slip but so long they don't let this happen to their beans I will keep going back. I have had a few people tell me that they weren't happy with Dominion beans but once I got them to try the Primo beans they are sold.
Thanks everyone and keep Brewing

i understand what you say about the coffee at Gj's versus the coffee at Dominion but lately it seems that dominion's aggrogance has helped them settle in a place that sometimes is well, average. The new kids coming up making the coffee don't seem to be able to pull a decent shot at times.
